NON RIGHT TO WORK STATES

It has come to our attention that some local union presidents are threatening people with false information.  They are being told that the local president can pull their union card thus causing them to lose their jobs.

The local president can have you removed from the union for several different reasons but THEY CAN NOT CAUSE YOU TO LOSE YOUR JOB.  You still must pay the part of your union dues that covers the cost of representing you and costs associated with services that benefit you such as arbitration.  Under what is known as the Beck laws your dues should be substantially lower than what you pay now.

In everyday language you are entitled by law to withdraw from the union and still keep your job as long as you pay your union dues.  You are entitled to a partial refund of the dues you pay as long as you request that these funds be returned to you.  The union is required by law to represent you just as it would a member for whatever that is worth these days.  After all you are paying for this service.

Many are of the opinion that the union will not represent you if you withdraw.  From what I have seen your representation is poor to say the least today.  If you do lose your job and the union does not get your job back there are avenues we will help you with.  We have documentation that shows people who got their job back when the union was not able to do this for their people.  We would be happy to show you many examples of this if you request this information.

Are you sick and tired of being threatened by your local union officials?  You can STOP this too if you will only stand up to these people.  There are government agencies that handle these type of situations everyday.  If you will just let us know, then be brave enough to write a statement of what has happened to you, we will give this information to the appropriate government agency.  We have had reports that union officials have made threats on the families of some employees; occasionally a fellow employee has been guilty of this.  PLEASE don't let these cowards get away with this, there is help!  We will see that you get the appropriate government agency to handle this.

The advantages of withdrawing from the union are: the union can not impose fines on you for doing things the union feels to be inappropriate; you are no longer bound by any bylaws the union draws; you no longer will be required to pay for DRIVE and such so called related services; and you no longer will be paying to build a strike fund that you did not vote for.  The disadvantages are you will no longer have a vote in elections or contract ratification nor will you receive strike pay.

If you are interested in withdrawing from the union the following is an example of a letter to do so.
